>> sean: tonight erups in anaheim, california. rioters have taken to the streets, damaging storefronts and setting fires and hurting bottle police. the rioting started after two deadly shootings by police. a gang member was killed after running from authorities and the violent protest after a second shooting on sunday when joel mathew also reportedly, a gang member, was shot and killed while firing an an officer. we have learned that federal officials will review the shootings. joining me is the former lapd detective, mark fuhrman. i know we are having an audio problem. thanks for using your phone. as we look at the video, let's

talk about what happened and what is unfolding there. >> lyou know, sean, what is interesting about this is just how you describe these shootings. have you two gunning membersn involved in both of these shootings and i think people are passing over the conduct that gangs are involved in -- violence, drugs and other violent crimes. so to have the police interact with them is not shocking and have them engaged in a deadly encounter is not shocking whatsoever. but everybody's just kind of blowing over that fact. it's disturbing. >> sean: one of the problems we have in almost every case, mark, and i wasn't there, you weren't there and nor were the people who are rioting. there is always, it seems, a rush to judgment. and nobody wants to give the time to allow the facts to come in. >> well, you know, sean, this is an opportunity, this is an opportunity for the average

person who has an ax to grind with authority or the police or whichever authorities that -- that they have a problem with, this is an opportunity to keep the police off balance, to actually maybe exert pressure on politicians and administrators who will rush in and have somebody, you know, review the cases and rush in and try to appease irrational people, they are not rational, they are criminals right now. they are not acting under constitutional rights to assemble. they have gone over that. they have become criminals. they are assaulting people. >> sean: let me ask you a question on that front. whenever these incidents happen, we have all of this videotape, we can identify many of the people who are involved. there's an example, you can see people on video, committing crimes. we never go back and review the videotape and arrest the people we know committed crimes in these instances. why don't we ever do that? >> we do do that.

lapd did that. in the 80s, we had a lot of demonstrations in the early 90s, we did exactly that. we had people in the crowd foeoing, we had people in buildings and other locations-- yover hear about it. >> yes, we did do that. you don't hear about it because, you know, it is publicity that the media doesn't want to cover. you know, you have these -- insiders, these anarchists that come from outside areas to actually fuel the anger that might just be frustration and anger and some kind of connection that people have with the suspects in these shootings. but what you have is people just inciting -- throwing fuel on the emotional fire that's going. they do this and that's who we try to identify. you try to identify them at the riots, at the demonstrations. and snatch them right then. that's what they should be doing. they should be more
